Technologies

PolyX Breaker®

With PolyX Breaker®, Continental applies expertise gained in the automotive sector to bicycle tyres: polyester has been used very successfully in car tyres for years, with highly positive results. The extremely strong polyester fibre is tightly cross-woven. This produces a high fabric density that makes the breaker resistant to foreign objects and particularly resistant to punctures.

BlackChili

A unique Continental compound, made exclusively in Germany, that revolutionises bicycle tyres! BlackChili Compound takes the balance between greater grip and rolling resistance to the highest level. Numerous first places in tests confirm the benefits measured and recorded in the laboratory and in the field. Next-generation polymers, carbon particles produced using nanotechnology and fillers ensure truly unique performance. From MTB downhill tyres to time trial bike tyres, the ultimate choice for each application! BlackChili Compound improves rolling resistance by 26% while offering approximately 30% more grip than activated silica compounds. Tyres made with BlackChili Compound also offer higher mileage and, unlike multi-compound tyres, consistent performance from the first kilometre to the last

Founded in Hanover in 1871, Continental is still based in the German city today. For cyclists, it makes tires and inner tubes for road, gravel, mountain biking and urban riding. Its connection with bicycles goes back to its early days: in 1892, it became the first German company to produce pneumatic bicycle tires.
