Pirelli Scorpion XC Soft Terrain is a mountain bike tyre designed for soft, loose terrain. The tread features tall, widely spaced knobs to support riding when the tyre tends to sink and shed accumulated heavy soil without flexing, ensuring precise handling and exceptional grip even in challenging conditions. The special SmartGRIP Compound combines excellent ground conformity with tear resistance, delivering high grip in all weather conditions, wet or dry: the ideal partner for your off-road performance.
An aggressive tread profile with widely spaced knobs for fast, confident riding on all types of soft terrain, wet or dry. Scorpion XC Soft Terrain offers exceptionally high puncture resistance and handling performance.

Tread
IL Pirelli Scorpion XC Soft Terrain tread features taller, widely spaced knobs that provide excellent ground penetration and high mechanical and chemical grip, making it ideal for more aggressive riding styles too. The height and stiffness of the knobs promote ground penetration and mechanical grip, ensuring excellent performance and feel under braking and acceleration, as well as excellent cornering support. The specific knob spacing of Scorpion Soft Terrain and its compound formulation also help shed material accumulated on the tread at low speeds.
Single compound
SmartGRIP Compound uses the most advanced chemical technologies to achieve two properties that are typically opposed in off-road riding: mechanical resistance and chemical grip. This formulation achieves a level of performance that allows it to be used throughout the rubber layer forming the tread. Using a single compound ensures that performance does not decline as the tread wears, a problem typical of multilayer compounds. Pirelli chooses the best compound for each tread and size, with no compromise between grip and handling in dry or wet conditions.
Construction
The construction of Scorpion MTB tyres is optimised for the end user's riding style and intended use. Different combinations of materials, densities, thicknesses and sizes create tyres with different riding characteristics, ensuring exceptionally high levels of handling, grip and rolling efficiency on all types of terrain. Tailor Development is the name of Pirelli's approach to developing and maximising tyre performance in every size and version, creating dedicated solutions for every tyre in the Scorpion MTB range.
Founded in Milan in 1872 by Giovanni Battista Pirelli, Pirelli remains based in the Lombard city today. For cyclists, it makes tyres for road, gravel, mountain and city bikes, as well as inner tubes. In Bollate, it has renovated a factory dedicated to producing bicycle tyres.
