The Flux is a compact, realistic and maintenance-free interactive direct-drive trainer. The trainer responds immediately: its Smart electronics and 7 kg flywheel transmit even the slightest changes in effort directly to your legs.

Of all Tacx trainers, the Flux has the heaviest flywheel, with a perceived effect of up to 23 kg. The greater the flywheel inertia, the more realistic the riding experience. It uses ANT+ and Bluetooth® Smart to communicate and can connect wirelessly to smartphones and tablets. The ANT+ and FE-C protocol lets you train with the Tacx app as well as third-party apps such as Zwift and TrainerRoad. You can also use the trainer without any connection: if you do not connect it to anything, it will simulate a flat route.

Connecting to a PC
Do you have a Flux Smart and want to get everything the Tacx apps can offer? You can do this by connecting the trainer to your computer. This lets you train with Tacx Trainer 4 Advanced software. Unlike your tablet or smartphone, you can use your computer to adjust resistance and view performance data. For example, the PC software offers longer videos in HD or Blu-Ray resolution. As you pedal, resistance at your rear wheel adjusts automatically as the gradient increases or decreases.
To connect the Flux Smart to your Windows PC, you need the Upgrade Smart package, which contains Trainer 4 Advanced software, a handlebar-mounted controller and the ANT+ antenna.

Electromagnetic brake
The Flux Smart trainer uses an electronic brake. Positioning magnets and electromagnets around a rotating aluminium disc generates eddy currents, which create an opposing magnetic field. This produces a contactless, maintenance-free brake that is also extremely quiet. The electronic brake allows the appropriate resistance to be set to simulate both flat roads and mountains.

Virtual speed
When riding in virtual reality or a video, you may exceed the performance the electronic brake is designed for. To allow cyclists using trainers with electronic resistance to compete against rivals with electric brakes in Multiplayer challenges, Tacx developed virtual speed. This feature translates the additional energy required into speed to ensure fair competition. If this speed differs from the actual speed of the rear wheel, it is shown in red on the screen.

Software and Apps
You can connect the Tacx Smart trainer to your smartphone, tablet or computer using ANT+ or Bluetooth Smart to use our software and apps, or those of others. You can also use it independently, without connecting the trainer to any device. This gives you complete freedom to choose the software you prefer for your indoor training.
With our software and apps, you can adjust your training based on heart rate, gradient and power, or choose a famous race route. You can also compete online against other cyclists. The trainer's options vary depending on the application used.

Compatible cassettes
The Flux has a universal EDCO Multisys freehub body compatible with all Shimano and SRAM cassettes, and many Campagnolo cassettes. Compatibility with the latter depends on the number of notches on the cassette. Unfortunately, cassettes with 8 notches cannot be fitted.
