Technologies
HardWALL
Casing with bead-to-bead protection and a hard rubber insert positioned above the bead wire for reliability suited to any aggressive riding style. Multiple reinforcements built into the structure improve overall casing strength and provide greater support when riding at low pressures: with a bead-to-bead nylon layer integrated into the casing plies and a thick hard rubber insert above the bead, HardWALL easily handles high loads and prevents punctures. Multiple reinforcement technologies combined with a 60tpi nylon casing result in a solid tyre construction, benefiting reliability and ride quality without compromising weight. The MTB HardWALL casing is designed for trail and enduro riding.
SMartGrip Compound
Decades of success in the Motocross and Rally World Championships have led Pirelli engineers to develop an innovative compound, SmartGRIP Compound for the Scorpion™ MTB range, combining two opposing characteristics: SmartGrip Compound for Scorpion™ MTB, combining two opposing characteristics: tear resistance, for maximum mechanical grip in dry conditions and maximum puncture resistance at the same time; chemical grip on wet surfaces, so there is no need to worry about rain or muddy, slippery sections of trail. The compound is the result of an intensive research and development process that has delivered outstanding performance in both dry and wet conditions. Tread designs optimised for ground consistency work regardless of the weather, maximising the effectiveness of the various knob geometries in the Scorpion™ MTB range for truly uncompromising performance. With the Pirelli Scorpion™ MTB range, there is no longer any need to change tyres according to the weather: simply focus on the ground conditions you usually ride. The single-compound design provides consistently high grip in both dry and wet conditions, even when the knobs begin to wear.
